BASIC COURSES
Martial arts activities begin with a basic course in the sport. By paying a basic course fee at the Loop Martial Arts gym, you may attend to any of our basic courses at the same time, which begin in the same training period. Types that can be taken in basic courses are BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-jitsu), MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) and Muay Thai (Thai Boxing).
No previous athletic background is needed as exercise gradually improves fitness.
At the beginning of the basic course, you will learn the basics of each art and their basic techniques. The courses last for six weeks. When you arrive for the first time, you only need a t-shirt and shorts or sweatpants for training. If you have a judo or BJJ outfit in your closet, you could use it from the beginning, if you are taking a BJJ basic course. In our gyms shop you can also get the necessary equipment for training. It is advisable to get a BJJ suit by the middle of the course at the latest.
Participants in the basic course should also note that, for safety reasons, nails should be kept short and jewelry removed before training. Only clean workout clothes are used, and feet and hands should be washed before coming to the tatami. Bring a pair of indoor sandals for moving from the tatami to changing rooms or toilets.
You can register for the basic course by using this form or directly in the gym. The first hour is free of charge at the beginning of the course. You may enter the course within the first two weeks of the start of the course, if there still is space left in the group. Please come to your first training session 15-30 minutes ahead of time to sign up at the register.
The age/wheight limits for the courses are (with the consent of the guardians, if underage):
BJJ from >50kg in the adult group
MMA from the age of 16 in the adult group
MT from the age of 13 in the adult group
After the basic course, the practitioner can move on to normal classes. In addition to regular classes, there are classes in the training calendar that focus on technique, competition, or sport-specific sparring. If you feel that you want to rehearse the basics, you can attend the basic course classes in addition to the regular practice classes with the same monthy training fee.
More detailed schedules can be found on the registration page.
